About Paul

What's a goalie have to do with Web Design and Development?
Well, let me tell you.

Passion!

Passion drives a goalie to put him(or her)self in front of a piece of vulcanized rubber traveling at a high rate of speed. It is Passion that propels a person to excel at one of the most difficult of all positions in sports. It is this same Passion that I place in creating the best designs, interfaces, web sites and software.

Hello. My name is Paul. And, I am a goalie. But I am also a skilled and determined Web Designer and Application Developer. I bring that same passion to designing and developing web presences. I am always ready to step out on to the ice, or web, and put my best game forward.

Everywhere Not Anywhere

My brother Joe's blog screenshot

Currently working on the design of a WordPress blog site for my brother, tentively called, "Everywhere Not Anywhere". He wanted his site in chromatic grayscale. The masthead image and the headshot were both converted from color to chromatic grayscale via Photoshop. The color scheme was developed using online color tools to find different shades of gray that will still be easy to read.

Basing the design off of the Blog template built for Bootstrap by @mdo. The template was converted into a WordPress template, and then customized to fit my brother's requests.

Work in Process

MyMedicalPayments

MyMedicalPayments.com screenshot

Built using Visual Studio 2010, on the .net 4.0 framework, this site was created to allow patients to pay their medical bills on-line. I was responsible for the sites design assets and its front-end interface. The site features: a slider built with flash, form validations built using jQuery, animated pop-up boxes to assist the user in finding their account number and CVV code on their credit card, and form changes when the user selects either "Pay by Credit Card" or "Pay by Check".

This site helped to decrease the average number of days to collect payment for medical services.

You will need an account number to go further into the site, but you can see some of the interface elements by going to MyMedicalPayments.com

MyAmbulancePayments

MyAmbulancePayments.com screenshot

MyAmbulancePayments is the sister site to MyMedicalPayments. With a few changes to the configuration set up, we could collect payments for ambulance services, as well. You can see it in action by going to: MyAmbulancePayments.com

Be sure to click on the "Where's My..." links on either sibling's homepage. Also the FAQ page was built using accordion list of questions. Clicking on the question will allow the user to view the answer.

AccountTracker

AccountTrackerOnline.com screenshot

I created the "Look and Feel" for AccountTracker. This was accomplished through the use of Silverlight, laying out and styling the site using XAML. This site incorporates the Ribbon component from Infragistics.

The purpose AccountTracker is to have doctors electronically sign charts that have already been sent to RTI for billing. It eliminated the need to ship the charts back to have them signed. Medical services cannot be billed without doctors signing off on the treatments.

This site also helped to decrease the average number of days to collect payment for medical services.

You will need a User ID and Password to get into the site, But you can see the Login page that I styled using XAML in Expression Blend, by going to AccountTrackerOnline.com.

NamasteBaby!

NamasteBaby.com screenshot

This is the version of the NamasteBaby.com website that I designed and coded. It has since been redesigned by another designer.

This site features a jQuery slideshow where images fade-in and fade-out. It also features an interactive schedule where the user can click to see more details about the class, and even register for the class.

Logos

MyMedicalPayments

Logo for MyMedicalPayments.com and MyAmbulancePayments.com

Because this site was to be used for Emergency Room and Ambulance Services, the logo takes one thing that is prominent in both professions: the stethoscope placed around the neck. We then merge the cross and star of life symbols to represent the physicians and emergency medical technicians

I created this logo using Photoshop specifically for the AccountTracker website.

Poetry

So Natural

  • Awakening sunrise greets the honey bee.
  • Instinctive buzz seeking out the delicate flower,
  • the intoxicating ambrosia,
  • the sweet nectar.
  • Pattering stream rushes about its course.
  • Lustrous stone caressed in its shimmering bed,
  • the soothing flow meanders
  • the crests freely.
  • Rumbling thunderstorm rolls to the south.
  • Cardinal purr of softly lapping drops
  • mount to a roar as the deluge unfolds
  • in thundering waves.
  • Saturated meadow permeates with content.
  • Scintillating scene elates in a warm glow
  • the reemerging sun radiates
  • the golden-red clouds disperse.
  • So natural, as two hands holding, the day moves toward a lifetime.

I Came Home

  • I came home today
  • And found you were gone.
  • Everything was as it was
  • That moment...
  • Time stood still.
  • I panned the living room
  • Your music
  • still filled the air
  • Your chair sat lonely
  • Nobody snug in its embrace
  • Whirling through the dining room
  • I could almost see your footsteps
  • on the kitchen floor.
  • I called for you.
  • You did not reply.
  • I called for you again!
  • I called for me!
  • I called for help!
  • I called for ...
  • I called everyone.
  • I gazed into the
  • past
  • A past that no longer sparkled
  • No longer shined,
  • No longer breathed.
  • I breathed heavy
  • Into a life that was,
  • Into the soul of my soul,
  • the heart of my heart.
  • A breath that echoed back
  • And I wished it said my name.
  • I swore it said my name.
  • I needed to hear my name
  • the name you gave me.
  • I came home today
  • And found you.
  • You were gone.

Vision

  • There's a young butterfly
  • spreading out her new-found wings,
  • drying, slowly testing, trying,
  • sitting on a branch
  • of a perpetual tree.
  • Muses call into mind
  • a gentle nudge forward
  • She flies!
  • Brilliant are her wings.
  • I see a tulip pushing its way
  • through rocky soil,
  • growing, blossoming, maturing,
  • opening her petals to sun's warmth
  • with a fragrant air.
  • A gardener carefully waters
  • and adds encouragement.
  • She prospers!
  • Charm are her petals.
  • A poem cries to the pen
  • recorded wept ink stains,
  • it can go anywhere, see anything,
  • be anything the mind desires
  • with discipline and grace.
  • The poet orchestrates her words
  • animates her spirit
  • She's free!
  • Words are her immortality.
